Our mission
Our motivation is to improve the condition of the people of Sub Saharan Africa through the values inspired by the Prophet (SAW) and embodied in the institution of Zakah.
Our Process
We identify, assess, plan and implement projects to improve communities’ economic conditions in partnership with existing organizations in the region. Further, we monitor and mentor our projects’ champions to ensure longevity and increasing value.
Our Story
How We Got Started
Zakatek is a product of the efforts of university graduate students who saw a need to improve the condition in their society through use of Islamic institutions of philanthropic management that have stood the test of time and combined with modern technology.
We leverage on our different experiences and expertise in computer technology, Islamic law, project management and marketing to bring our venture into fruition.
Where we are heading
We are at the first step of a 1000-step journey to achieving our goal at Zakatek. We aim for further iterations of different software to integrate the process of Zakah/Sadaqah administration with transparency, accountability and usability as our main design considerations.
