Zakatek is a small team building the admin side of charitable work. A place to write up your projects, keep a record of who you've helped, follow the money in and out, and answer a funder's questions without spending a week in spreadsheets.
We've seen how this usually goes
Your donation page ends at the thank-you email. Your accounting software has never heard of a beneficiary. So the record of who received what and what happened afterwards lives in a spreadsheet on one person's laptop and a WhatsApp group nobody can search.
Most of the organisations we talk to are doing this well. They're doing it by hand, on evenings and weekends, and it takes hours they don't have.

Write up the work
Every project lives in one place, whether it's a draft, live, or finished. Write it up in an editor that's easy to use: format the text, add links, embed content. Attach photos and video, and show the budget so donors can see where the money goes. Then post regular updates, so the people who gave don't have to wonder what happened next.
So you can answer "how's it going?" the same day
Zakatek shows you which projects are moving and which have gone quiet, with the stalled ones flagged so they don't slip past you.
It shows you how your donors behave over time. Who gives once, who comes back, how your recurring giving is holding up.
It shows you the mechanics of the money. Which channels people use, how often payments fail, what you're exposed to across currencies, and how giving rises and falls across the year.
One workspace for your organisation
Your staff see your organisation's projects and nobody else's. Who can add a beneficiary or publish a page is set by their role, so you're not relying on everyone remembering what they're allowed to touch.
The people you support stay private
Names and balances are visible to your staff inside the system. They never appear on the public project page.
We're early, and we'd rather say so
Zakatek is in early access. We're working with a small number of organisations, mostly in Sub-Saharan Africa, to get this right before we open it up properly. You'd be talking to the people who build it, and what you tell us will change what we make next.
We're not charging for it while we're in early access. When we work out how Zakatek pays for itself, you'll hear it from us first, with plenty of notice.

Who can see the people we support?
Your staff, according to the role you give them. Nobody outside your organisation, and never the public project page.
Which currencies and payment channels do you handle?
More than one of each, and the dashboard converts across them so your totals make sense. Ask us about your specific setup and we'll tell you straight.
Do we have to move our existing donors across?
No. Start with one project and see how you find it.
We're registered in the UK or the USA but all our work is in Kenya.
